Rural Professional Development Scholarships

Overview

The Colorado Tourism Office sponsors certain professional development opportunities for select rural tourism partners to advance their tourism education and training. Examples of eligible opportunities include, but are not limited to:

  • In-person or online marketing courses
  • Tourism-related conference (not including the Colorado Governor's Tourism Conference)
  • Business development workshops

Schoalrship funds are paid on a reimbursement basis and will only be awarded after succesful completion of conference, course or training.

Eligible expenses include:

  • Full of partial registration to attend a tourism-related conferene, course or training
  • Lodging and mileage

Timeframe

Application period opens twice a year. 

  • Round 1 Application Open - June 1, 2020
  • Round 1 Application Closes - July 9, 2020 at 4:00 pm
  • Round 1 Notification - by July 30, 2020
     
  • Round 2 Application Open - Janaury 5, 2021
  • Round 2 Application Closes - February 2, 2021 at 4:00 pm
  • Round 2 Notification - by February 16, 2021

Professional Development opportunity must take place before June 11, 2021.

Award Amount

Up to $500

Eligiblity Snapshot

At the time an application is submitted, an applicant must:

  • Be a resident of Coloraod involved in the tourism industry
  • Have not received a professional development scholarship within the past 12 months

 

Governor's Tourism Conference Professional Scholarship

Overview

The Governor's Tourism Conference Scholarship provides funding for professionals with a proven dedication to Colorado tourism to attend the Colorado Governor's Tourism Conference. The scholarship includes conference registration and reimbursement for lodging and travel expenses.  Learn More >>

  • Application Open - June 8, 2020
  • Application Closes - June 30, 2020 at 4:00 pm
  • Recipient Notofication - July 23, 2020

Award Amount

Up to $350 for reimbursement of lodging and travel expenses

Eligibility Snapshot

At the time an application is submitted, an applicant must be:

  • A resident of Colorado involved in the tourism industry
  • First-time attendee of the Colorado Governor's Tourism Conference. 

 

Rural Tourism Conference Sponsorships

Overview

The Colorado Tourism Office sponsors select annual rural tourism conferences to bolster tourism development efforts in rural Colorado and to support education and training opportunities for tourism partners across the state. Learn more >>

Up to $5,000

Timeframe

Application period opens twice a year. 

  • Round 1 Application Open - July 7, 2020
  • Round 1 Application Closes - August 4, 2020 at 4:00 pm
  • Round 1 Recipient Notofication - August 27, 2020
  •  
  • Round 2 Application Open - November 12, 2020
  • Round 2 Application Closes - December 10, 2020 at 4:00 pm
  • Round 2 Recipient Notofication - January 7, 2021

Eligibility Snapshot

  • Conferences must take place before June 11, 2021
  • Conferences must occur annually and be pre-existing
  • Conference host must be a nonprofit organization (or municipality) located in Colorado and involved with the tourism industry
  • Conference must provide education and/or training opportunities for rural members of the Colorado tourism industry

Rural Tourism Entrepreneurship Scholarships

Leading Edge Scholarship

APPLY

Overview

A collaboration between the Colorado Tourism Office and Colorado SBDC, this scholarship provides tourism businesses with the opportunity to attend a LEADING EDGE training course. The goal of this collaboration is to reach small to medium for-profit businesses and entrepreneurs in rural areas and provide targeted business training, resources and funding.

Timeframe

Applications are accepted year-round.

Award Amount

Scholarship recipients will be reimbursed for 100% of their LEADING EDGE tuition fee.

Eligibility Snapshot

Applicants must be a start-up entrepreneur or current business owner working within the tourism industry in rural Colorado. Call the CTO team at 303-892-3840 with questions regarding your tourism occupation eligibility.

 

CRAFT Implementation Grants

CRAFT Studio 101 Implementaion Grant

After successful completion of CRAFT Studio 101, participating communities or regions are eligible to apply for funding to implement a key priority determined during program. Up to $10,000 is available for CRAFT Studio 101 Implementation Grant. Guidelines >>

  • Implementation requests must be aligned with and support tourism outcomes or next steps identified during CRAFT Studio 101
  • Applications are due within 90 days after completion of Day Six of CRAFT Studio 101
  • Projects must be complete within a 9-month timeframe

CRAFT Studio 201 Implementaion Grant

After successful completion of CRAFT Studio 201, communities are eligible to apply for funding to implement a key priority determined during program. Up to $7,500 is available for CRAFT Studio 201 Implementation Grant. Guidelines >>

  • Implementation requests must be aligned with and support tourism outcomes or next steps identified during CRAFT Studio 201
  • Applications are due within 90 days after CRAFT Studio 201 scope completion
  • Projects must be complete within a 9-month timeframe

CRAFT Workshop Implementaion Grant

After successful completion of CRAFT Workshop, communities are eligible to apply for funding to implement a key priority determined during program. Up to $2,500 is available for CRAFT Studio 201 Implementation Grant. Guidelines >>

  • Implementation requests must be aligned with and support tourism outcomes or next steps identified during CRAFT Workshop
  • Applications are due within 90 days after CRAFT Workshop
  • Projects must be complete within a 6-month timeframe

CRAFT Mentor Implementaion Grant

 After successful completion of CRAFT Mentor, participants are eligible to apply for funding up to implement a key priority determine during the program. Up to $1,000 is available for CRAFT Mentor Implementation Grant. Guidelines >>

  • Applications are due within 90 days after completetion of CRAFT Mentor
  • Projects must be complete within a 6-month timeframe

Marketing Matching Grant Program

Colorado Tourism Office’s Marketing Matching Grant Program provides funding to not-for-profit organizations in the state of Colorado for the purpose of promoting the state or a region as a tourism destination. The overall goal of the program is to increase tourism revenues and economic benefit within the state through unique and effective marketing opportunities. Learn more >>

Tourism Development Grant Program

The Colorado Tourism Office’s Tourism Development Grant Program provides funding to local Colorado municipalities. The purposes of the program is to support projects that contribute to the development of the tourism industry statewide. Learn more >>
